Sometimes the most brilliant ideas are the simplest ones.
Take, for example, the odd-looking little ashtray pictured here. Developed in 1969 by a young physician and inventor named Dr. Wayman Spence, the “Lung Ashtray” would make national headlines, catch the attention of the tobacco industry, and, most importantly, persuade thousands of tobacco users to stop smoking. The concept was just about as simple as they come: mount a set of transparent lungs on an ordinary ashtray, and make one of the lungs hollow so that cigarette smoke filters through it, leaving behind a syrupy deposit of tar. Although the product may have been simple, the way in which it instantly and wordlessly conveyed its message was nothing short of genius. Since that first foray into product development nearly fifty years ago, WRS Group has solidified its position in the health education market, creating thousands of original products for tobacco, alcohol, nutrition, diabetes, and childbirth education. Whether we’re developing a surgical training model, a dental hygiene model that “glows” under UV light, or a life-size childbirth simulator, WRS Group’s creative team of engineers and designers seeks to achieve the perfect balance between form and function with every product. Over the years, we have found that it’s not enough to just design and build the most innovative products on the market, but it is equally important to find ways to get those goods into customers’ hands as quickly and efficiently as possible. That’s why we have also become preeminent experts in inventory management, with 50,000 square feet of warehouse space and experience shipping thousands of items to more than 30 different countries.
